4.4.8.2 Monday
The motion of Monday was created from the (divine) Attribute of Living, and through it life was spread in the world, so everything in the world start to become living on Monday [II.438.9].
The Moon, which corresponds to the ‘Second Day’ of Creation, is in the first celestial sphere above the Earth, being the fastest moving planet in the heavens, moving through one lunar mansion every day, so it goes through all the twenty-eight lunar mansions in its own day, which equals twenty eight Earth days, according to Ibn al-Arabi, as explained in section 4.4.1. Ibn al-Arabi then explains that from this motion of the Moon, the twenty-eight letters of the Arabic alphabet are created, or actually the corresponding sounds, regardless of how they are written or spoken in different languages [II.448.4]. Allah made this first (lowest) heaven the place for the first prophet Adam, since he is the first manifestation or exemplar of the Perfect Human Being.
The Moon, in keeping with its association with Adam, resembles the soul [I.499.5], and it is the second state of the appearance of the Single Monad, after the creation of the spirits (angels), which are purely spiritual creatures, made from light. That is why Adam himself lectured Ibn al-Arabi about the dimensions when he visited him in the orb of the Moon, because through the creation of his Day (Monday) the space and the six directions started to form.
