3.5.5 The Three Generations of Spirits
In the previous and other
shorter books and treatises, Ibn al-Arabi gives many important details about
the structure and classification of spirits into various kinds or classes
and responsibilities. For the same of the subject of this book, in the
remaining pages of this chapter and the coming final one, we want to briefly
describe the types of spirits and relate them to the complex-time dimensions which in the end form the bosons, or the energy particles governed by
hyper-symmetry that then may split into the super-symmetric fermions of the physical and psychical worlds.
In chapter 310: on knowing the
vibrations of spirits [Futuhat, III.38.2], Ibn al-Arabi states that there
are three conclusive types of spirits:
1. The Roaming Spirits
2. The Managing Spirits
3. The Subjected Spirits
Then he explains that the
spirits of people are equipped with the various sensory tools, such as
seeing, hearing and smelling, and that these tools have one face looking at
the visible world and another towards the Presence of Imagination, giving
many interesting details on how the sensations are received, interpreted,
stored and retrieved. However, what is important for us in this regard is
that both the physical and psychical worlds reflect together the spiritual
world, and vice versa, and this is what we mean by hyper-symmetry that may break into super-symmetry according to the famous mass-energy equivalence relation
E=mc2 that relates bosons with fermions, waves with
particles, space with time, continuity with discreteness, or differentiable
manifolds with granular space.
Ibn al-Arabi explains that the
Single Monad, or the Universal Intellect, was one of the Roaming Spirits but
then Allah veiled him through the special Theophany of Knowledge through
which he taught him what He wants to create in this entire World till the
last day. Therefore, through this manifestation the hyper-symmetry was lowered into the super-symmetry by splitting into the physical and psychical realms.
