The single monad model is a cosmological theory that is based on the Islamic
philosophy of Ibn Arabi, who was a 13th century mystic and scholar. The theory
attempts to explain how the multiplicity of the universe emerges from the
absolute oneness of God, who is the only real being. According to the theory,
God creates the world by manifesting His names and attributes in a single point
of existence, called the monad, which is the origin of all creation. The monad
is constantly changing its state according to God's will, and each state
corresponds to a different level of existence, such as the physical, the
spiritual, the angelic, etc. The theory also proposes that time is not linear,
but circular, and that each instant of time contains a full week of creation,
which is called the intertwining days. The theory claims that this model can
reconcile the apparent contradictions between the Islamic doctrine of oneness
and the scientific observations of diversity and complexity in the cosmos. The
theory also has implications for physics and cosmology, such as explaining the
quantum phenomena, the relativity of space and time, and the origin and fate of
the universe².
The single monad model was developed by Mohamed Haj Yousef, a physicist and
philosopher who studied Ibn Arabi's works and compared them with modern
scientific theories. He published his first book on the topic in 2007², and
later expanded it into a series of books that explore various aspects of the
