Cosmic cycles, temporal re-creation and conformal cyclic cosmology

DTT’s recurring inner production and conformal cyclic cosmology’s succession of cosmic aeons concern different kinds of cycle. Their comparison is useful when it focuses on what persists, what is rescaled and how a physical clock crosses a boundary. This article explains the distinction and gives a concrete conformal calculation without treating either proposal as established cosmology.

01Two meanings of recurrence

DTT describes a repeated generative organization through which accessible spatial records are completed. Its six inner levels are nested roles within production, and the seventh role is outer observation. This recurrence need not mean that the entire expanding universe repeats its history or contracts into the same state.

Conformal cyclic cosmology, associated with Roger Penrose, proposes a succession of cosmic aeons whose conformal geometries are joined across a crossover. The 2025 paper by Meissner and Penrose develops a particular crossover account and discusses proposed observational interpretations. Those are claims within a research proposal, not established evidence that a previous aeon has been observed. The comparison with DTT should therefore concern the mathematical meaning of continuation and scale, rather than treating all cyclic language as one theory. [1]

02Worked conformal geometry

Let g̃ab=Ω²gab with Ω>0 away from a proposed boundary. A null vector k satisfies gabkakb=0, so g̃abkakb=Ω²×0=0. The null directions are preserved by the conformal rescaling. Timelike proper lengths, however, scale with Ω along a given curve, so massive clocks do not generally retain the same durations.

This shows why conformal matching is naturally about causal and angular structure rather than an unchanged absolute length or mass scale. If Ω becomes singular or vanishes at a boundary, a smooth extension in one conformal metric does not automatically mean every physical clock crosses it regularly. The behavior of matter and the interpretation of the boundary are additional dynamical questions. A DTT completion map would need to answer analogous questions if it connects distinct geometric regimes.

g̃ab=Ω²gab preserves null directions: gabkakb=0 ⇒ g̃abkakb=0.

Ω is dimensionless. The simple calculation assumes a positive nonsingular factor locally; crossing a singular conformal boundary requires additional analysis.

03What can persist through a change of geometric regime

A source ontology naturally suggests that the generative structure may persist when the outer geometry changes. That is a philosophical and model-building advantage: the deepest object need not be identified with one classical spacetime. To become physics, the model must state what information, energy or correlations connect the records on either side.

In a conformal account, preserving null structure is weaker than preserving all massive matter observables. In DTT, preserving the Single Monad's identity is weaker than preserving a material observer's memory or clock continuity. These are parallel distinctions. Six nested inner levels do not automatically provide a conserved quantity through a cosmological transition; the source law must define one.

The positive bridge would be a completion model that identifies which dimensionless correlations survive a boundary and how a new metric scale is selected afterward. That would give temporal recurrence a concrete observable meaning. It could be compared with a conformal crossover without claiming that inner cycles and cosmic aeons have the same duration or physical role.

04A contrasting mechanism: a finite-density bounce

A common illustrative bounce equation is H²=(8πG/3)ρ(1−ρ/ρc), with ρ treated as mass density and ρc a positive critical density. It gives H=0 at ρ=ρc. For a fluid with w=p/(ρc²), energy conservation gives ρ̇=−3Hρ(1+w). Away from H=0, differentiating and continuing smoothly yields Ḣ=−4πGρ(1+w)(1−2ρ/ρc).

At ρ=ρc and w>−1, Ḣ=4πGρc(1+w)>0: contraction turns to expansion. The algebra identifies a bounce within this effective homogeneous model. It does not derive the equation from DTT, establish inhomogeneous stability, or prove geodesic completeness in the full theory. Those distinctions prevent a useful worked mechanism from becoming an overstated universal conclusion. [2] [3]

H²=(8πG/3)ρ(1−ρ/ρc); at ρ=ρc, H=0 and Ḣ=4πGρc(1+w)>0 for w>−1.

ρ and ρc are mass densities, H has units s⁻¹, and w is dimensionless. This is an illustrative effective bounce law.

05Why a bounce is not a conformal crossover

The worked bounce reverses contraction into expansion at a finite critical density within an effective homogeneous model. A conformal crossover instead relates descriptions through a rescaling of an asymptotic geometric regime. DTT's repeated completion is yet another mechanism. The three can share language about continuity beyond a classical boundary while making different assumptions and predictions.

This distinction matters for observable claims. A bounce may generate a particular perturbation spectrum, a crossover proposal may imply correlations inherited from a previous aeon, and a recurring source process may leave no cosmological-cycle signature at all. The source must derive whichever effect is claimed. A suggestive CMB pattern or a general appeal to cyclical time cannot select among these mechanisms without a quantitative likelihood and competing-model analysis. [1] [2]

06The strongest comparative conclusion

DTT can use cyclic cosmology as a conceptual test of what its own recurrence means. The most useful result is a clear map of retained information, clock behavior and geometric scale across a transition. If no cosmological transition is part of the source model, its inner cyclicity should remain a local generative statement. Preserving that distinction makes the temporal theory more precise and prevents a broad philosophical affinity from becoming an unsupported empirical claim.
