Removing a common energy offset from normalized probabilities does not yet determine its gravitational effect. Comparing DTT with holographic cosmology, this article derives the effective cosmological-constant combination, identifies the finite parameter that remains free, and shows what a source mechanism would need to fix for a stable physical explanation.
The cosmological constant enters the gravitational field equation as a term proportional to the metric. A Lorentz-invariant vacuum stress has the same tensor form, so observations constrain an effective combination rather than separately revealing every bare contribution. The theoretical problem is to explain a small, stable effective value despite the available microscopic scales and changes of description.
SMM/DTT sometimes motivates a vacuum normalization or a finite spectral scale. Such constructions can remove an offset from normalized response ratios without removing it from gravity. An additive constant cancels from many nongravitational probabilities, but its metric variation can still matter. This is a valuable distinction for the source programme: a genuine cosmological result needs both a rule for the effective stress-energy and a principle fixing the remaining constant or boundary data. [3] [4]
The Single Monad Model begins with one nonspatial generative source. The Duality of Time Theory distinguishes the source’s inner production from the outer order in which completed records become accessible. Its six inner levels are nested functional roles of one process: a higher role organizes lower-level work. The seventh is the completion or observation interface. They are neither six independent clocks nor six additional time coordinates.
This distinction supplies a useful research question: which features of an observed world can follow from the way a source produces, retains and releases information? A concrete answer needs a state space, an autonomous update, retained memory and a rule connecting completion to an accessible measurement. In the constructions discussed here, those mathematical ingredients are stated explicitly. A successful finite example establishes what its specified mechanism can do; further arguments connect it to physical particles, spacetime or universal laws. [1]
Holographic cosmology explores descriptions in which cosmological bulk observables are encoded in a lower-dimensional quantum theory. Different proposals use different dictionaries and regimes of control. McFadden and Skenderis provide a specific example relating primordial spectra of a four-dimensional cosmology to correlation functions in a three-dimensional QFT. This is a research framework with calculable models, not a demonstrated universal holographic description of our entire observed universe.
SMM/DTT similarly seeks to explain a spatial world through a generative structure that is not simply another material object within that world. The resemblance is useful, but the source is not automatically a holographic boundary. A precise comparison needs an encoding map, the observables it preserves and the reconstruction of locality and time. An information-capacity bound by itself does not specify that map. DTT could contribute a temporal mechanism for an encoding or for its update; a claim of equivalence requires matching correlation functions and causal access rather than relying on the shared phrase emergent spacetime. [2]
Holographic cosmology can encode bulk geometry in nonlocal relations of another theory, so it offers an alternative organization of the vacuum degrees of freedom. DTT similarly seeks to avoid treating visible spacetime cells as independently fundamental. This may change the microscopic explanation of vacuum energy, but it does not by itself determine the effective cosmological constant.
In a holographic dictionary, the bulk curvature scale is tied to data of the dual theory, such as its degrees of freedom and couplings in the applicable model. A DTT source proposal needs a comparably explicit relationship between its retained structure and curvature. A finite record count alone supplies neither the sign nor the measured magnitude of Λeff. The offset calculation also shows why normalized boundary or source response need not reveal the absolute bulk vacuum term. The constructive opportunity is an independently selected encoding whose correlation functions fix geometry and its vacuum scale together. Until that dictionary exists, holographic language is a suggestive comparison rather than evidence that the source has solved the cosmological constant’s selection and stability problems. [2] [3] [4]
In units c=ℏ=1, take a spatially homogeneous vacuum stress Tμν=−u gμν. Einstein’s equation Gμν+Λbare gμν=8πG Tμν becomes Gμν+(Λbare+8πG u)gμν=0. Thus the effective constant is Λeff=Λbare+8πG u. A shift u↦u+C can be compensated by Λbare↦Λbare−8πG C; observable curvature depends on their sum.
Meanwhile, for a finite quantum system H↦H+C I changes U(t) only by the common phase e^{−iCt}, which cancels from ordinary normalized outcome probabilities. These two statements are compatible because gravity responds to the action’s metric dependence, not merely to relative phases in a fixed background. A DTT derivation that proves phase or response invariance under an offset has established the second statement. To solve the first problem it must explain the gravitational coupling, the selection of Λeff and its stability under contributions from the fields in the model. [3] [4]
Natural units are used only in this derivation. In SI, an energy density u contributes 8πG u/c⁴ to Λeff.
The constructive target is a mechanism that controls the gravitating combination, not merely a convention for setting a local ground-state energy to zero. Such a mechanism might involve a symmetry, a global constraint or dynamical adjustment, but each option needs a full action or equivalent conserved equations. A source-based explanation becomes stronger when it identifies the remaining free constant explicitly and shows why changing a regulator or adding a massive field does not require retuning the observed result. | Cosmological constant and vacuum offset | In a holographic dictionary, the bulk curvature scale is tied to data of the dual theory, such as its degrees of freedom and couplings in the applicable model. | Holographic cosmology can encode bulk geometry in nonlocal relations of another theory, so it offers an alternative organization of the vacuum degrees of freedom. |
| Status of the claim | A constructive research programme; a specified finite model establishes only its stated conditional results. | Controlled examples and proposals rather than a proven universal dual of our universe. |
